Scallop Shell Wallpaper: Coastal Fan Shell Pattern

Scallop Shell Wallpaper

Rows of scallop shells fanning open across the wall, soft-edged and drawn by hand. This scallop shell wallpaper has the quiet, linen-textured calm of an old seaside cottage. It brings a gentle, folk-art rhythm to a room, coastal and easy to live with.

Each shell is drawn by hand, its fine radiating lines giving the fan a soft, sketched quality. Set against a subtle linen-weave ground, this scallop shell wallpaper reads with real texture up close, with all the small variations that give a hand-drawn pattern its character.

Where this scallop shell wallpaper works

This is a natural in a coastal kitchen or bathroom, where the medium all-over scale sits happily as a splashback or runs across a full wall behind open shelving. It's just as at home in a hallway or a downstairs cloakroom, the shell motif quietly earning its place. As a piece of seashell wallpaper it leans calm and grown-up, so it suits a coastal cottage, a coastal inspired scheme, or a soft contemporary room equally well.

At this medium scale the pattern surrounds you gently, so a full-room wrap works beautifully in a bedroom or bathroom where you want that enveloping, restful feel. Use it on a single feature wall or a chimney breast where you'd rather the shell wallpaper made a quieter statement. The fan arrangement draws the eye upward, which gives a low-ceilinged or boxy room a welcome sense of height.

Colourways

Choose from four colourways, each with its own feel:

Light Blue

A soft, chalky light blue, the most classically coastal of the four. Calm and airy on the wall, at home in a seaside kitchen, a family bathroom, or a restful bedroom.

Sage Green

A muted, grey-toned sage green with a grounded, natural calm. Suits a coastal cottage, a Scandi-leaning kitchen, or a gentle, gender-neutral bedroom.

Denim Blue

A deeper, denim-toned blue that turns the scallops graphic and confident. The boldest of the four, strong on a feature wall, in a hallway, or behind a bed.

Taupe

A warm, sandy beige that keeps the pattern soft and neutral. The most flexible of the four, working from a bathroom to a living room without asking the rest of the room to change.

This scallop shell wallpaper is available in peel and stick, traditional non-pasted, and pre-pasted. All printed to order on PVC-free paper.

If you'd like the shells in a different tone to suit your room, every design can be recoloured for free. Send me your paint code and I'll adjust the artwork to match your room before it prints.

Wallpaper Types

Peel & Stick

No paste, no fuss. Made from 100% woven polyester fabric at 275gsm (370gsm including the peel-off liner), it has a soft, fabric-like feel and a matte woven texture. Self-adhesive, repositionable for up to 24 hours after hanging, and removes cleanly in one piece.

A good choice for renters, first-timers, and anyone who wants flexibility without sacrificing finish. Works in bathrooms and moderately humid spaces. Not suitable for heavily textured walls.

PVC-free, GreenGuard certified, printed with UV inks.

Traditional (Non-Pasted)

The classic option for a long-lasting, permanent finish. Non-woven fabric at 190gsm with a smooth matte surface. Apply paste to the wall, hang the panel, trim if needed.

A good choice for full room makeovers and anyone wanting a finish that's built to stay. Best on smooth, dry walls. Not recommended for bathrooms or humid spaces. Not suitable for heavily textured walls.

PVC-free, GreenGuard certified, printed with UV inks.

Pre-Pasted

The middle ground between traditional and peel and stick. You get a permanent finish without the paste. The adhesive is already on the paper, activated with a damp roller or sponge.

At 300gsm it has a fine embossed texture and a premium matte feel. Repositionable while the adhesive is still wet, and suitable for bathrooms and moderately humid spaces. Not suitable for heavily textured walls.

PVC-free, GreenGuard certified, printed with UV inks.

Measure your walls carefully

Colours and pattern flow depend on getting this right, so it's worth taking your time.

• Measure height from skirting board to ceiling, or wherever you want the wallpaper to end.
• Measure the width of each wall you plan to cover.
• Use the tallest height measurement across the whole project.
• Include doors, windows, and architectural features so the pattern runs correctly around them.
• Take several measurements along each wall. Ceilings and floors are often uneven.

Read the full guide here.

Order the right amount

• Multiply your wall area by the coverage per roll to estimate how many you need.
• Choose one roll size and stick with it throughout the project for consistent pattern matching.
• Round up and order all rolls at once. Same batch means the closest colour match across panels.
• Not sure? Just message me and I'll help you work it out.

Order a sample first

Screens and room lighting both affect how colours read. A sample is the simplest way to check colour, scale, and finish in your own space before committing.

Colour customisation

If the design is almost right but the colour isn't quite there, just ask. I can adjust the palette to match your paint colour, existing décor, or anything else you're working with.

Pattern scale

I can also adjust the scale of a pattern to suit your space, larger, smaller, or as shown. For more significant design edits, a small design fee may apply, but I'll always be upfront about that before anything is confirmed.

Either way, you'll receive a digital preview to approve before your order is placed. No surprises.

How to request

Use the customisation request form to send me your colour or scale preferences. I'll come back to you with a preview and confirm any costs if relevant. Once you're happy, we'll get your order processed.
