Geometric Wallpaper

Geometric wallpaper covers a lot of ground, and so does this collection. These are patterns built on shape rather than motif, from quiet checks and plaids to bold abstract designs and clean, modern geometry. The common thread is structure, which is what makes geometric patterns so easy to live with. They give a room order and rhythm without much fuss, and they sit happily alongside plain walls, wood and texture rather than fighting them.

Mine are hand-drawn rather than machine-perfect. There's no rigid mathematical precision here, just shape with a little warmth and a human hand behind it. Colour does a lot of the work too, so if you already know your palette, you'll find your way in quickly.

Where geometric wallpaper works

Geometric patterns are some of the most adaptable you can choose, which is why they suit so many different looks. A check or plaid brings a grounded, lived-in feel to a bedroom, hallway or snug. The cleaner shapes are a natural fit for a mid-century modern scheme, all those circles, arches and soft repeats that nod to the 1950s and 60s without feeling like a museum piece. The bolder, more graphic designs bring a little retro confidence to a kitchen or bathroom, and hold their own on a feature wall or wrapped around a whole room.

If you're decorating around a particular era, geometrics do a lot of the heavy lifting. They anchor a mid-century living room, add structure to a more eclectic, contemporary space, and look as at home in a downstairs loo as they do behind a bed. Because they lean on shape rather than busy detail, they're far more forgiving to live with than people tend to expect.

Colours, from bold to subtle

The palette runs warm to cool, loud to soft. Terracotta, ochre and burnt orange for something with a bit of heat in it. Teal, navy and sage for calmer, cooler schemes. Beige and softer neutrals for a geometric wallpaper that settles into the background rather than dominating the room. If a design is right but the colour isn't, just ask. Colour customisation is free, so you can match a shade to your paint or your existing scheme before anything is printed.
